I was absolutely amazed at what a wonderful event the Crater Lake Century was. This was my first year. I have been cycling for over 40 years, and this event rates as one of the very best I've ridden in. The lightly traveled roads were wonderful, the scenery spectacular. As you mentioned, the weather was great. The organization of the ride was terrific, the volunteers friendly and most helpful, and the food was delicious. I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to have participated.

$3500 for the Klamath County Museum system... just the icing on the cake!

Thank you so much for all your hard work in putting on this event. I will look forward to riding again next year!

Jeff Gilmore

I just wanted to thank everyone for a super, terrific ride yesterday. That was the best century I've ever done. Best scenery, best lake ever, best food at the stops, best food post race (I'm still thinking about the potato salad and the home-made cookies) the most friendly volunteers. It was a wonderful experience and I feel very fortunate to have been able to do it.

Please thank the volunteers for me if you can, as at some of the stops I was so focused on food and up coming hills that I forgot.

What a great day. Best of luck in the future for your ride. If I'm in the area or remotely close by I will certainly do it again.

One more comment and then I promise I won't bug you again. I want to add that it's not just the scenery and food ect., but this is a rider's ride Great climbing, good roads, a real challenge, which makes it just plain fun.

Sarah Jilka

The team did a MAGNIFICENT job on this ride. The volunteers were knowledgeable, food at the stops was fresh, ripe and tasty, Water tasted great, and the info you forwarded in advance helped me feel prepared. I rode it solo, so the extra "insurance" provided by your excellent preparation gave me emotional confidence. I've been on several other organized rides and you deserve a feather in your cap for this one. In fact, I was happy to write a check as a donation at the end as my small way of saying thank you for the outstanding results your team produced. Nice follow up e-mail too :-)

Best,

Kira Higgs

Thanks we had a great ride and everyone was super please let us know the new dates as we plan to come again next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom and Kristen Lane

Thanks for the email and for the great event. This was my first year doing the ride and I have been raving about it to everyone who will listen. I also heard that a Portland news anchorman, participated in the ride as well and has also been spreading the good word.

This was by far the best-supported century I've ever done. I know it sounds like a small thing, but I LOVED the pre-peanut buttered and jellied sandwiches that were cut into quarters! That was so nice. The homemade cookies were also excellent.

The volunteer support was wonderful and everyone was so kind. I will definitely be back for next year's ride and am excited to hear that it might be a week earlier, since Hood to Coast is always that last weekend in August. Too many fun things to do!

Thanks again for a great ride!

First of all I want to say THANK YOU for all your help. I would not have made it all the way without your assistance and spare tubes. I did manage to only use one of the 3 tubes you gave me. I returned the other 2 spare tubes to your son at the finish line. I cannot say thank you enough for your assistance and for keeping an eye on me. My family and I appreciated your kindness.

Aside from my misfortune with flat tires (which I believe was due in great part from the manufacture of the tubes itself), the ride was just awesome. Crater Lake is a breath taking place and I was dumbstruck and in complete awe with such a beautiful park. The volunteers were very friendly and kind and my heartfelt thanks go out to all of them for their great job. I would like to give a special thank you to the lady on the red pick-up (sorry I didn’t get her name) for spending a few minutes with me on the side of the road while I waited for my wife to bring my “bullet proof” tires after my 2nd flat.

I believe that in the end several riders assisted me as I struggled with my flats and their kindness was also appreciated. Call it a “team” effort, as I would not have finished without all the help I received. It was a humbling experience that I will always remember. Crater Lake will forever be in my heart.

Until next time . . . . best regards,

Flavio

Just my two cents worth.....

The ride this year was absolutely awesome!!!! The best century by far that I've participated in all year. The scenery, as usual, was unbelievable. Great support, great food, everyone was super nice, and the barbeque was outstanding - especially the desert!!!

As for next year, I think you should keep the ride on Sunday - it makes it much easier for people that live farther away to come down on Saturday instead of fighting traffic on a Friday night.

I'll sign up for next year as long as my work keeps me in Oregon.

Thanks again!!!

Thanks for the hard work in organizing this STELLAR ride! It totally blew me away. Course was great and who could've asked for a better day!!!!!! Please thank the volunteers for the support and help. Everyone was so kind and giving!

Thanks,

Dr. Parker Mah, DC (the one in the Spiderman jersey!)

Best Ride Ever!

Thank you and the volunteers for a great job this was by far the most beautifulest, most interesting and the hardest, but with an awesome finish. Thank you and will be looking forward to next year........Thanks again

Phillip Willard

Thanks a lot for all your work on this. It really was the best century I have done.

It is great how well organized it is. Nice work!

Evan Swanson

This was, indeed, the perfect ride! Every aspect of it was superb. Having been President of Siskiyou Velo for a couple of years, overseeing the production of the Mountain Lakes Challenge rides, I know what effort goes into these events. You are one dedicated soul to do this year after year. It need not be said, but your work is most sincerely appreciated.

Rick Berlet

The ride was absolutely spectacular. I came up from SF for the ride and couldn't have had a better experience! The countryside was gorgeous, the Lake magnificent, the weather superb, and the volunteers and help were excellent. I can't wait to tell my bike friends back home about the ride and my wonderful experience. Hope to see you next year.

Kim Rupert

I just wanted to say thanks for an outstanding ride. A few of those climbs were a little tough, but well worth it. The rest areas and volunteers were awesome. The variety of snacks at the stops were excellent and so healthy. My husband and I really enjoyed the barbecue as well. Looking forward to doing the ride again....and seeing all the photos from this year.

Lisa Haff

I loved the ride. Just fabulous. Seeing Crater Lake for the first time, and earning the view(!) was a wonderful experience.

Please give your volunteers my sincere thanks. They were all great and the stops were well located and nicely stocked, and everyone was so friendly!

I hope you do the event next year; there is already one friend from DC who wants to do the ride after seeing the pictures I took!

I'll come next year if I can manage to fit it into my schedule. One suggestion: Announce the date as early as possible. If I can come again, I'd like to spend a night at the CL lodge and would have to book that very early.

Thanks again for a great, great time.

Chuck Bouldin

I just want to say thank You to all of the friendly people who supported the ride. I had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. There's no place quite like Crater Lake; what a fantastic natural resource!

For the relatively small number of riders, I was very impressed with the amount of support. You've got it down. Keep it going, and I'll keep coming back!

I truly hope that from your side that it was a successful fundraising event for the museum.

Thanks again!

Robert Lecher

I just got home from the ride and wanted to drop you a thank you for a great day. The ride was great, volunteers were nice and fun to visit with, food at the rest stops was great and the barby at the museum was also great. Nice job. I think you should call it the most beautiful century in America!

Sincerely

Tom Lomax, Bend Or

I’m sorry I did not get the chance after the ride to thank you again for the opportunity to participate in the Crater Lake Century.

Without a doubt it was the best century ride I have ever done. And yes I’ve done a few, 8+ (I’ve only been riding for a little less than 2 years).

The ride is beautiful, the food stops perfectly placed, the food best ever (Imagine, FRESH sandwiches. We’re not used to that in our neck of the woods). The support staff were friendly and fun. The clothes drop was much appreciated. And, the BBQ at the end topped off a magnificent day. My only criticism is that you don’t charge enough for this ride. I’d gladly pay $100. So, I’ll be making a donation to the Museum after I get back home.

Please tell all your support volunteers what a wonderful job they did.

If you have contact with the park service, I hope you let them know what a wonderful opportunity this is for cyclists. I hope in the future more people will be able to enjoy this event with Crater Lake. It truly is a treasure. I can’t imagine a better ride anywhere in the US.

I can’t imagine all the work you must have put into this event. I have no doubt it took an enormous amount of time. But all that work created a great many smiles and memories for a great many people, me included.

Thanks again. I hope I have the chance to do this again.
